About PromixNet

Hi, I’m Maciej — a retired IT guy, lifelong learner, and the curious mind behind PromixNet.

I was born in Poznań, Poland, and moved with my family at 16—first to Austria, later to the Netherlands, where I studied psychology and explored computer science for a few years.

After my studies, I ran my own psychology practice for five years. In the end, my curiosity for computers and systems won — and it pulled me into a life of IT, building and experimenting.

I’ve spent a good part of my life working with computers: installing operating systems, configuring networks and servers, writing software in C, building websites with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP, and playing with Linux whenever I could.

PromixNet is my personal lab on the internet.

It’s not a corporate site, and not a polished portfolio — it’s a space where I document experiments, thoughts, and ongoing projects, such as:

  • programming in C, Python, Forth/Gforth, Lisp and Rust
  • running services on Linux and a Synology NAS
  • building and testing small projects with Raspberry Pi (automation, monitoring, experiments)
  • exploring AI, deep learning, and (sometimes) bold ideas like neural interfaces
  • psychology, health, and how the brain and body react to modern life
  • and occasionally just small snapshots from everyday life

I also enjoy the creative side of tech. I use GIMP and Krita to design banners, icons, and visuals for the site — and I’m learning Godot to experiment with interactive projects, prototypes, and storytelling.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers. This blog is more like a notebook: messy at times, honest, and always in progress. Some posts will be technical, others more personal. Sometimes I will write in English, sometimes in Dutch or Polish — depending on the topic and mood.

If you find something useful here, that’s great. If you simply recognize pieces of your own journey in mine, even better.

Thanks for visiting PromixNet,
Maciej
